The National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS) is a national specialist centre under the National University Health System (NUHS). It is the only public cancer centre in Singapore treating both paediatric and adult cancers in one facility.
At the NCIS, Every Patient Matters and our goal is to provide comprehensive yet personalised care for each and every patient incorporating cancer awareness, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care. We do so by focusing on four core areas.
Research for improved care
FOUR CORE AREAS
- Providing outstanding patient care
- Advancing research discoveries from the laboratory into better treatments
- Training healthcare professionals and scientists
- Educating the public
Advanced technology to human touch
The NCIS provides a broad spectrum of cancer care and management from screening and early diagnosis to treatment and long-term care. We bring together professionals with various specialties including doctors, surgeons, nurses, medical imaging professionals, pharmacists, and rehabilitative therapists.
With the patient at the heart of all our programmes, sound medical knowledge and advanced technology are combined with the human touch of specialist doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals in innovative ways to fight cancer together.
We also collaborate cohesively with scientists to advance cancer medicine by translating basic research discoveries in the laboratory to applied research for clinical trials and eventually to better treatments.
Besides improving the quality of care to cancer patients, we believe in training and nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals in this field of medicine thus most of our clinicians assume dual roles – serving as NCIS doctors or surgeons while lecturing at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
This has enabled them to be attuned to the latest medical developments while their involvement in cutting-edge research uncovers medical breakthroughs to benefit our patients.
